Looking for a role within fashion outside of London?

Newcastle hosts the world’s leading authority in Luxury Preloved handbags: The Handbag Clinic.

OUR PURPOSE

To lovingly and expertly prolong the life cycle of all handbags. In doing so, we nurture sustainability, whilst proudly acting as a gatekeeper and guard on the luxury handbag market.

We are a growing collective of Artisans specialising in the luxury sector and are looking to expand our team of experts and nurture the next generation, to ensure we maintain our status as the formative voice for sustainable luxury.

Do you feel you have what it takes to undertake this exciting opportunity and restore rare, vintage and sentimental handbags for our growing customer base?

WHAT WE DO

As our name suggests, we specialise in handbags. Whether it be a simple zip repair, handle replacement, repairs to leather (dog chews are much more common than you’d think), colour touch-ins or even a complete colour change!

Additionally, we provide the same services for purses, jackets, shoes, belts and versatile trinkets such as Vanity boxes, vintage game boards … we will work our magic on anything that is leather!

JOB ROLE

This position will involve transforming the condition of leather fashion accessories using our specialist range of materials and products. Using existing and built upon leather stitch practice, you will handcraft bespoke pieces including handles, straps, linings and much more following brand and industry guidelines. From the big to the small, our Artisans replace everything from full handbag bases to the smallest of loose stitches ensuring each item is brought back to its former glory.

With the opportunity to learn not only this unique craft but also so much about the brands, this role is very varied, and the right candidate has the opportunity to really broaden their skills.

All applicants, despite their existing stitching experience will undergo a training programme where they will learn to undertake all the services we offer to the high standards we pride our Team with the support of our Senior Artisans. This training will also cover Colour Theory, Leather Cleaning and small elements of Leather Repair.

Permanent Full Time Position Mon- Friday 8-4pm (Exc Bank Holidays)

(Part-Time would be considered for the right candidate)

REQUIREMENTS

We are a vibrant team, building a progressive environment that encourages creativity, inclusivity and a strong sense of community.

We appreciate the bespoke nature of our work so we don’t expect you to have experience within the luxury sector. We are proud of the progressive environment we have curated and will provide you with extensive training to ensure you become an expert in this field.

However, for this role, applicants will only be accepted who have progressed their studies to degree level, preferably within fashion or textiles and must have a strong hold on varying stitch techniques. It is desirable that the candidate is familiar with pattern cutting and the use of Sewing Machinery.

In addition the right candidate will be:
