Goyard is by far the most discreet fashion houses. They don’t advertise and they are the only major brand that doesn’t sell anything online. 

They are also the oldest leather goods maker, one year older than Louis Vuitton, founded in 1853 in Paris. The Goyard we know today evolved from the original designs of boxes and trunks by craftsman Pierre-François Martin, one of the master trunk makers of the era. The first member of the Goyard family joined the business in 1845 as an apprentice, and years later, Edmond Goyard opened what would be Goyard's iconic boutique on rue Saint-Honoré in Paris.

Their handbags are made of their signature Goyardine coated fabric with their ‘Y’ monogram print, a construct of piled dots that symbolise the Goyard family history as log-drivers. Initially, this print was hand-painted but now this process is achieved through etching and layering of dye.

As the brand prides itself on consistency and discretion, not much has changed at Goyard in the past several decades apart from the availability of certain colours of Goyardine.
