The Gucci Marmont bag, also known as GG Marmont, was first released in the 2016 Fall/Winter Ready to Wear Collection. Despite only being a recent addition to Gucci’s vast handbag designs, the Marmont style has secured its spot in the Gucci Hall of Fame.
Predominantly crafted in zig-zag quilted leather, it offers a striking contrast to the classic Gucci Supreme canvas that adorns many Gucci handbags.

History
The classic Gucci Marmont is crafted of matelassé chevron leather and features the new ‘GG’ logo in antique brass hardware.
The new GG logo was originally released on the Marmont belt in 2015; a year before the new creative director, Alessandro Michele, launched the Gucci Marmont handbag collection in 2016. Michele was inspired by a buckle that the fashion house created back in the 1970s, choosing to reposition the G’s so they both faced the same way and overlapped.
The unique nature of GG Marmont bags being trans-seasonal secures their position within many women’s wardrobes. Gucci teases vintage with contemporary to drop must-have essentials that will continue to adorn the arms of many for years to come.

Hardware
Since the Gucci Marmont was launched in 2016, the hardware for the interlocking GG was always minimalist. Recently, the fashion house paid homage to their playful nature and released designs which feature pearl embellishments and textured GGs.
In 2020, Gucci released a gunmetal version of the classic Marmont, a sharp contrast to the thick brushed gold hardware that had been on Marmont’s since their conception in 2016.
